PFI offers the opportunity to girls and boys from the 5th grade onwards the opportunity to experience what it's like to work at an institute!
After Girl's Day 2023 was a great success, PFI is taking part in both Girls’ Day and Boy's Day for the first time this year on April 25th.
Girl's Day is an annual day which gives girls the opportunity to get to know professions in which a maximum of 40 percent of women are currently doing an apprenticeship or studying. Boy's Day has a similar structure, as it gives boys the opportunity to get to know professions in which a maximum of 40 percent of men are currently training or studying.
On this day, PFI offers a total of 14 internships in various professional fields. Seven of these are for boys only, e.g. in the fields of leather processing, administration, marketing and event coordination. Six places will be given to girls only in the fields of technology and shoe manufacturing.
We would like to offer boys and girls the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the institute and therefore offer the following day internships:
For Girls:
Engineering department:
Girls gain an insight into the development, design and construction of systems, machines, devices and controls as well as the IT department. The professions they can get to know on this day include installation mechanic, electrical engineer, IT specialist and mechatronics engineer. A day full of exciting and varied topics awaits them, offering the chance to gain valuable experience.

ISC department:
The ISC - International Shoe Competence Center provides theoretical knowledge about materials used in shoes as well as insights into design tools and model design. They can also experience what it feels like to work with materials and tools used in shoe manufacturing. The professions they can get to know learned about on this day include leather production and tanning technology specialist, upper maker and shoe technician.

For boys:
Administration:
In our administration department, the boys will gain insights into organization and office management. Together with colleagues at our head office, they will unpack and sort test samples and import them into our software. They will also welcome customers, guests and suppliers and coordinate internal appointments. They will gain experience in the professions of administrative assistant and office management assistant.

Marketing & Public Relations Department:
During the day internship in the marketing department, the boys can gain valuable experience in internal and external communication, social media, press relations and design, allowing them to express themselves creatively.

ISC department:
Over the day, the ISC department shows the boys the world of shoes: from theory about manufacturing and materials to design tools and model design. Here, too, they can get hands-on experience and try out what it feels like to work with materials and tools used in shoemaking.

Event coordination:
Here, boys experience how appointments are prepared and supervised and provide support while seminars and training courses are in full progress. But the follow-up and coordination of future events are also exciting activities of the day.
