Tested Safety: GS Mark

The GS or “Geprüfte Sicherheit” (tested safety) Mark is a voluntary certification mark awarded in accord with Section 5 (Articles 20–23) of the German Product Safety Act (ProdSG). It signifies compliance with the consumer and occupational safety requirements (ProdSG) and that this compliance is tested and monitored by an independent body.

The product is tested by PFI in accord with currently valid standards and regulations. Initial awarding of the GS Mark must be preceded by an inspection of the production facility in which the technical and human resources, incoming goods control, intermediate control, production control, and final inspection are all scrutinised. The packaging and instructions for use are also examined.

The GS Mark is valid for a maximum of 5 years and can be renewed the end of the period of validity. The GS Mark can also be restricted to a specific production quota or “batch”.

PFI is authorised to award the GS Mark for PPE of Categories I and II in the areas of Hand Protection, Foot and leg Protection

The appropriate certification programmes are available on request from the certification body.
