Quality Policy

The Test and Research Institute Pirmasens is a service provider for industry and the economy. The quality policy of the Institute is designed to serve the customer and never to be satisfied with previous achievements because without a destination every road is the wrong one!

By consistently applying the standards DIN EN ISO/IEC 17011, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065, each in their valid edition, it will be ensured that in a uniform and transparent system of evaluation of certification bodies, laboratories, inspection bodies, and pre-qualifying bodies compliance with legal requirements is verified and a system of mutual trust in the economy can be established. It is the declared aim of all PFI employees to offer timely, fault-free, and cost-effective services to all customers, which are fully accepted within the applicable framework in Germany and worldwide.

The Test and Research Institute Pirmasens e.V. fulfils its duties to the highest standards, which manifests itself in:

  • Consistent application of international standards and other legal requirements
  • Flexible, customer-oriented operation
  • Reliable and independent results
  • Confidentiality in the performance of testing, certification, inspection, or pre-qualifying procedures

The following principles apply:

  • The Test and Research Institute Pirmasens e.V. is neutral and independent
  • The interests of the customer will be taken into account as far as possible
  • Efforts will be limited to the necessary and standard-conforming actions
  • A high market acceptance will be ensured for the PFI procedure



The competence and effectiveness required to achieve these objectives will be ensured by: 

  • Maintaining an effective quality management system within the Institute
  • Continuous adaptation of the procedures to the requirements arising from legal and normative provisions and the market situation
  • Periodical evaluation of quality with, for instance, internal audits, customer surveys, and management reviews
  • High motivation of all employees of the Institute
  • Responsibility of employees for the tasks transferred to them in the overall process
  • Qualification of all employees according to the requirements of the market, new legal and normative requirements and findings
  • Permanent exchange of experience between employees
  • Constant tracking and evaluation of the underlying laws and standards
  • Purposeful selection and targeted use of inspectors and experts


The Test and Research Institute Pirmasens e.V. optimises its work with the aim of covering the costs for personnel and material through revenues. The service should remain economical for the customer, without compromising the nature of the testing, certification, inspection, or pre-qualifying procedure.
