Biomechanical Laboratory
Our in-house biomechanical laboratory is at the heart of our research into footwear and orthopaedic technology. Here, our experts in sports medical technology and biomechanics are actively engaged. They not only conduct analyses related to the foot and footwear but also explore other aspects of movement while developing and testing innovative concepts.
Whether working on Contract Research for industry or non-profit research, the use of state-of-the-art measurement techniques is an integral part of our work. Our investigations include:
- Foot pressure measurements (pedobarography) using pressure plates, in-shoe measurement systems, and instrumented treadmills
- Motion reconstruction and joint angle analysis using 2D/3D video analysis
- Measurement of muscle activity using surface electromyography (EMG)
- Gait analysis using inertial sensors (IMU)
- Manual and digital foot measurements (ink footprint and 3D scanning)
- Additionally, as part of our research projects, we develop customised measurement systems that are not available on the market.
As part of our seminar "Anatomy & Biomechanics – Understanding Gait", participants can interact directly with these measurement systems and gain insights into their use through practical exercises.
