INNOVATION of the energy park with a Power to Gas facility ZUSE The PFI joins the Zuse community FOUNDING of Biorefinery Technology GmbH which is responsible for further plants in the energy park OEKO TEX the PFI joins the OEKO TEX community DAKKS the PFI is now a prequalification body for all areas of care by the DAkks accredited 2015 2016 2016 2014 PFIs Past and Future For some the 65th year of life means the end of working life the PFI on the other hand is as active and pioneering as ever on its proud anniversary and is therefore quite rightly considered a true jewel in the German research landscape But the institution also enjoys an extremely high reputation internationally With its research and developments the PFI and its network with branches in Hong Kong Guangdong and Fujian provide important solutions for the major social challenges around the world such as protecting the environment and the climate The foundation of the many years of success is above all the more than 100 highly qualified employees with their comprehensive expert know ledge in specialist areas that today extend far beyond the former parent branch of the shoe and leather industry This excellent know how is what makes the creation of all the countless innovative processes in areas such as chemistry physics biotechnology and microbiology possible in the first place For the city of Pirmasens as a founding member of the PFI e V the anniversary natur ally also represents a special milestone After all the PFI s long history of success began in the shoe industry The consistently successful diversification thus also reflects in an exemplary manner the constructive way in which the traditional shoe city of Pirmasens and many other companies based here deal with the structural challenges We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have the PFI as a valuable innovation engine in our region which has already accompanied us in numerous often impulse giving projects as a proven and important cooperation partner And last but not least the PFI is also a desirable employer and training company for the Pirmasens location and a real flagship far beyond the city limits I am sure that the PFI will continue on its successful path in the coming years and I am already looking forward to the next joint projects On behalf of the city of Pirmasens I would like to congratulate you on your 65th birthday and wish you all the best for the future Markus Zwick Mayor of Pirmasens 8
