But even if they appear to be indestructible, numerous factors affect their materials and construction over time. To enable manufacturers to understand how their products change under long-term conditions, tests are carried out in laboratories to simulate the <strong>ageing and wear<\/strong> of materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-custom-pfi-farbverlauf-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" style=\"border-radius:10px;padding-top:0.5rem;padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:0.5rem;padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.375), 1.1rem);\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>What happens during ageing\/wear and tear?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The tests simulate the stresses to which materials are exposed throughout their service life \u2013 but in a much shorter period of time. The aim is to test <strong>long-term durability<\/strong> under controlled, defined conditions. Various influences are specifically simulated in the process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Exposure to light:<\/strong> Over time, sunlight causes fading, embrittlement and loss of strength. In the laboratory, special exposure chambers simulate this effect in just a few days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Heat and time:<\/strong> Increased temperatures accelerate chemical ageing processes \u2013 ideal for making material changes visible at an early stage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Moisture:<\/strong> Particularly important in footwear, as inner linings, adhesives and upper materials regularly come into contact with moisture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Mechanical stress:<\/strong> Repeated rubbing, bending and folding, for example, realistically simulate use over a long period of time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-custom-pfi-farbverlauf-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" style=\"border-radius:10px;padding-top:0.5rem;padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:0.5rem;padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.375), 1.1rem);\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Why is ageing and wear behaviour so important?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">While <strong>climatic storage<\/strong> simulates short-term stresses such as extreme heat\/dryness, heat &amp; humidity or cold, tests relating to <strong>ageing and wear and tear<\/strong> show how materials change <em>over time<\/em>. <br>This allows weak points to be identified before they occur in real-world use \u2013 such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loss of elasticity in sole materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Colour changes or yellowing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Embrittlement of synthetic materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delamination of adhesives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Impairment of coatings, finishes or membranes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Severe material abrasion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The result: reliable statements about the service life and quality of a product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-custom-pfi-farbverlauf-gradient-background has-text-color has-background\" style=\"border-radius:10px;padding-top:0.5rem;padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:0.5rem;padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.375), 1.1rem);\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>An important component for durable and sustainable products<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Specific tests play a crucial role in developing <strong>more sustainable products<\/strong>.
