Zuse Days: Resounding Success

"Research That Gets Across" was the motto of the "Zuse Days", which were held on 7 and 8  June at dbb forum in Berlin. The member institutes had some impressive examples of successful research transfer to show.  More than 60 exhibitors, including PFI Pirmasens and PFI Biotechnology, made innovative transfer research a tangible experience.

Some two hundred visotors were attracted by the joint exhibition of the Zuse research foundation, which has been established in January 2015. In the conference programme, renowned lecturers from science and industry gave an insight into their successful projects and cooperations.

In view of Germany's diminishing innovative strength, the president of the Zuse Foundation, Dr. Ralf-Uwe Bauer, emphasized the importance of promoting transfer-oriented research in a constant and reliable manner.

Iris Gleicke, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), underlined in her speech: „Having gained such a competent and knowledgeable interlocutor as the Zuse Foundation is a stroke of luck for us. (…) Thanks to your help we learn how to best support technology transfer. And the motto of the Zuse Days is just a perfect match: "Research That Gest Across" reaches the industry as well as the consumers."

The moderated discussions with the exhibitors met with particular appeal. At this occasion the Zuse member institutes were able to present their know-how, benefiting SMEs in particular.

PFI was represented by Dipl.-Ing. Peter Schultheis, Department Manager Engineering and Research, and Dr. Michael Müller, EU Project Manager Biotechnology and Microbiology Both were completely satisfied with the participation as well as with the quality of the contacts and discussions.
