Together with the International Shoe Competence Center gGmbH, PFI undertook a company survey in mid-Mai 2014 to establish the research and innovation needs of German footwear manufacturers as well as their material, component, and machine suppliers. The survey was conducted online and took place over a period of one month. The response of the companies was extremely positive: About two thirds of all German footwear manufacturing companies participated in the survey! Many thanks for this overwhelming response!
By analysing the responses, PFI and ISC have been able to deduce where present and future research priorities should be set and the direction in which training courses should develop. The topics of automation in production and the use of alternative materials are of particular significance for many companies. Most manufacturers would like to see PFI and ISC focus on product, production, and process optimisation and sustainability (energy efficiency, environmental protection and resource conservation, working conditions, avoidance of hazardous substances, and recycling).
ISC already offers company-specific footwear engineering training concepts and will be pleased to advise you. Please call +49-6331 145334-0 or send an e-mail directly to uwe.thamm(at)isc-germany.com.
