Innovation Day 2017

More than 300 innovative small and medium sized enterprises, research institutes and cooperation networks from all over Germany came together for the annual Innovation Day in Berlin on 18 May 2017.

The Innovation Day focuses on the presentation of new products, processes and services, which were developed thanks to the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

About 1,800 guests seized the opportunity to learn about federal funding programs for innovation, to make contacts with innovative companies and research centres and to interact with representatives from the world of politics.

PFI presented a biorefinery concept for a salt-tolerant plant (Spartina maritima), from which multiple valuable products, such as lutein, sugar and ethanol can be produced. Dr. Michael Müller, project manager in the department of Biotechnology and Microbiology, demonstrated the valorisation chain of Spartina maritima with the aid of tangible exhibits. The project met with keen interest.

PFI presented following research projects:

  • SaliChem
  • 60+ Shoe (In cooperation with ISC)
  • Focus
