PFI contributes expertise on sustainability and product safety

The Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e.V. was represented by two delegates at the cads general meeting in Graz on 26th and 27th June. Dr Ines Anderie, Head of the Chemical Analysis Department, and Dr Johannes Menges discussed the latest EU regulations and provisions with 86 participants from industry, trade and various institutions.

Focus on expertise and networking
Dr Anderie and Dr Menges shared their expertise on the topics of sustainability and product safety in exciting panel discussions and active networking. Both discussed initial experiences and upcoming measures in connection with the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) and the EU requirements for the industry with Andreas Tepest and Dominic Bergmeister from Deichmann.

Reorganisation of the chemicals working group
One of the topics discussed was the reorganisation of the Chemicals Working Group, which has been managed and coordinated by the PFI for many years. In order to do justice to the broader tasks and responsibilities in the area of sustainability and product safety, the working group will in future operate under the title "Product Compliance".

Overcoming challenges together
Andreas Tepest appealed to the members to form alliances and work together to overcome the challenges posed by the EU regulations. The clear separation of textiles and footwear is particularly important, as different regulations are required for both sectors.

Commitment to sustainable standards
Participation in the cads members' meeting highlights the PFI's commitment to actively participating in the developments and challenges facing the industry and driving forward innovative solutions. "We look forward to continuing to work with our partners to shape future-proof standards and sustainable practices," says Dr Anderie.
